The Rangers have signed center Joe Veleno to a one year contract, with a cap hit of $1.2 million. Veleno is a purely defensive center, but a very good defensive center at that. There is very little offense to his game, both on the score sheet and in play driving. He won 51.6% of his faceoffs last year and is a very fast skater. He is projected to be the 4C on the Rangers. He will likely have Jaro Chmelar on one of his wings, possibly Tye Kartye on the other wing.
